I see no recent udpates so I was wondering if the project is still alive.

It's more or less complete, so there's not much maintenance.

There's no such thing as Express 5. It was promised 5 years ago and never released.

However, if you want the benefits of async/await and proper error handling that Express 5 were supposed to have, see https://github.com/therootcompany/async-router

Greenlock is completely agnostic to any framework. All of its work happens at the http and tls layers, before any routers get involved. See the examples here: https://git.rootprojects.org/root/greenlock-express.js/src/branch/master/examples
